Life Lessons: Shine Your Light

"Help!"

A solitary man stood in the void. "I am so afraid," he cried out. In agony, he waited, but no answer came. The depths of darkness and despair enveloped him completely.

"Hey you, man!" a voice called out.

"Me?"

"Yes, you, man. Take a step forward!" the voice said.

"I cannot move forward."

"Shine your light!" the voice ordered.

"What light?" the man asked.

"The light in you," the voice replied.

"I see no light," the man said.

"I see it," said the voice.

"Show me," replied the man.

"Trust me," said the voice. "Take a step forward."

"I am afraid. I might fall down. I don't know this pathway."

"Trust me."

The man took a step forward.

"I trust you."

A star twinkled.

"Beautiful!" the man cried out.

"Take another step forward," ordered the voice. "Trust me."

"I trust you," replied the man.

Another star twinkled. In fact, every time he took a step forward, another star began to shine and soon the sky was full of twinkling stars that only he could see.

As he walked along, he heard a sound.
